PULWAMA, July 7: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today said the Government aims to develop all regions and areas particularly far flung and remote belts. He said those advocating abrogation of Article 370 are actually befooling the people as the same cannot be scrapped.
Addressing a well attended public meeting at Chak Badri Nath, Rajpora today, the Minister said Government has fashioned its development initiative in such a manner that the far flung and remote areas get their due share. He said political executives and senior Government functionaries regularly undertake visits to these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the State.
Mr Taj said the present Government is working hard to ameliorate the living standards of people particularly those living below poverty line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society. He said many schemes and programmes are in vogue for the purpose.
The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present Government. He said raising of water usage charges, which constitutes one-third of State’s revenue, would give power generation in J&K a big boost. He said similarly in other sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K has seen phenomenal growth and progress.
Criticizing the political parties demanding abrogation of Article 370, giving special status to the State, Mr Taj said the said Article can never be scrapped and those claiming the same are actually befooling people to achieve their political goals. He asked the people to remain vigilant of the designs of these vested interest groups as their ultimate aim is to divide people. “They have nothing to offer you except impede the growth of the State which has undergone a turnaround after the hard efforts of the present Government”, he said.
Mr Taj said Government has prepared a comprehensive plan of strengthening sports infrastructure in the State under which every CD block would have a sports complex comprising an indoor stadium and a playfield. He said every Panchayat would have a sports field and all the existing stadia in the State would be provided sports kits and equipment. Besides, he said the coaching of players would be further improved.
