JAMMU, Sept 7: A UT level meeting of bankers and NGOs on SHG/JLG-BLP was conducted today by NABARD J&K at its Regional Office, Jammu.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Ajay Kumar Sood, CGM NABARD and attended by Surender Singh, GM, NABARD, officers from Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, cooperative banks, private banks, NGOs/stakeholders and other officers of NABARD.
DGM Anamika, while presenting welcome address, briefed the participants about the objective of the meeting. She informed the participants that NABARD – SHG Bank linkage programme is the largest microfinance programme. The achievements under the programme were also discussed in brief.
The CGM, in his key note address, briefed the participants about the journey of SHG-BLP movement of NABARD. While highlighting the status of SHGs in the UT, he informed the house that the client base of SHGs is quite large but due to various reasons, many SHGs formed and savings linked are yet to be credit linked. He further emphasized that although the repayments under this programme is satisfactory with low NPAs to the loan outstanding as compared to other bankable schemes yet the SHGs are not able to get hassle free credit from banks.
He also briefed the participants about other interventions like JLGs, Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP), Livelihood Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) and Village Level Programme (VLPs) during the meeting.
Power point presentations on SHG/JLG Bank Linkage Programme and other schemes under Farm and Off Farm Sector were made by Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, AGM. Elaborate review of district wise and NGO wise ongoing SHG/JLG BLP projects of NABARD was also undertaken.
