DODA, Sept 9: To eradicate the menace of power theft, Power Development Department (PDD) conducted surprise inspections in different areas of Bhaderwah and penalized people for illegal hooking.
According to a PDD spokesman, taking cognizance of increased tappings during night hours, a team constituted by feeder manager Saleem Tak and comprising of Meter Readers and Linemen under the supervision of Assistant Executive Engineer K C Raina inspected Dharampura and Sadar Bazaar area. During the drive, the team found various illegal connections which were disconnected on-spot.
The team also collected photographs along with other evidence so that action under appropriate clause of State Electricity Act may be initiated against the defaulters. Besides this, a warning was issued to all those who resort to power pilferage that FIRs will be lodged and police assistance will be sought if required.
