Cases up in Sgr, none in 7 Jammu distts

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Sept 13: Seven districts of Jammu region today didn’t report any fresh COVID positive cases.
Only eight new cases were reported in Jammu while 78 cases were recorded in Kashmir.
Five cases were registered in Doda, two in Jammu and one in Poonch while seven other districts of the region didn’t report new cases today.
Twenty one persons recovered from the virus today leaving 212 active cases in Jammu region.
In Ladakh, three fresh cases were reported in Leh district while Kargil district didn’t report any case today.
The UT of Ladakh now has 30 active positive cases including 28 in Leh and two in Kargil.
Meanwhile, as the COVID-19 cases in district Srinagar are on rise, the administration in Srinagar has notified around 21 Micro Containment Zones and sealed these areas as per the COVID protocols.
The district administration Srinagar is also going to intensify the drive against the COVID violators and may slap FIRs under relevant laws for violation of SoPS.
An official said that despite fines, there has been a complacent approach from some sections of the people who do not adhere to the COVID protocols. The district administration Srinagar is going to act tough against the COVID violators who may face FIR.
“For marriages, district administration had directed the families to seek necessary permission for the gathering as there is standing CAP on the gatherings and funerals, but many people have stopped to take the permission from the district administration and are resorting to huge functions making the entire gathering vulnerable to infection,” the official said.
On being asked about the reopening of schools in the Valley along with the district Srinagar, he said district administration Srinagar has sought the data of vaccinated students, teachers and other staff from the institutions which will be verified and mapped with the vaccinated data.
“Following the authentication of data, a formal permission will be issued to open the institution in the district”, he added.
According to the official figures, district Srinagar has so far reported 73,159 COVID cases, out of which 837 have died while the district’s current active case load is 604.
Kashmir today reported 78 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 48 from Srinagar, 8 from Baramulla, 9 from Budgam, 1 from Pulwama, 3 from Kupwara, 2 from Bandipora, 5 from Ganderbal and 2 from Kulgam.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 203,681 including 200,400 recoveries and 2,246 deaths
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,247 including 1,035 from Kashmir division.
With 124 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 321,329, which is 98.27 percent of the total cases.
