JAMMU, Sept 17: On the call of Indian Youth Congress, J&K Youth Congress today celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday as “National Unemployment Day”, alleging that the Modi Government had been befooling for the past seven years in the name of employment.
J&K Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib and general secretary Latish Sharma in presence of former minister and PCC vice president Raman Bhalla celebrated National Unemployment Day at Bahu Fort by polishing shoes to express resentment over highest ever unemployment rate in the country and J&K. On this occasion, a signature compaign was also organized against huge unemployment rate in country.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that youth of the country are roaming unemployed on the streets today. The Modi Government came to power by making big promises of giving 2 crore jobs per year, but today the Central Government is completely silent on the issue of employment. He said the Government is “busy in its branding by spreading its false propaganda. The unemployment rate in India has increased from 6.96% to 8.32% from July to August. The highest unemployment rate was recorded in May this year i.e 11.84%. Bhalla said lockdown saw a steep increase in unemployment rate.
Bhalla said that the unemployment rate in the country has increased from 2.4 per cent to 10.3 per cent in one year. “We see the common man struggling with inflation and central agencies following the BJP agenda,” said the Congress leader. He said J&K recorded the highest unemployment rate at the end of 2020, it was the worst year ever, in which the unemployment rate went up to 17.8 per cent. He said that LG Administration is least concerned about the current unemployment problem in Jammu & Kashmir. Since August 2019, five lakh job losses were recorded in Kashmir region only, he added.
Uday Chib terming the Indian Youth Congress’ (IYC) “Halla Bol” programme a “revolution” against unemployment, said that unemployment in the country has severely increased under the Modi regime.”Today on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, a revolution against unemployment is taking place. The birthday of Chacha Nehru is celebrated as Children’s Day and the birthday of PM Modi, who made India unemployed, is being celebrated as National Unemployment Day.
“The Prime Minister has increased the unemployment rate instead of increasing the GDP rate. The country’s GDP is in the trough and unemployment is sky high. Instead of cheating the youth of the country, Modi should provide employment,” he said.
Meanwhile, the J&K Pradesh Youth Congress (JKPYC) today Observed ‘National Unemployment Day’ by holding protests at Srinagar as well as in other places across the Valley.
In Srinagar, the protest was led by Sheikh Amir Rasool, Vice-President J&K Youth Congress who said that the Government has been resorting to high-handedness and was making people particularly the youth suffer on all fronts.
“When they came to power, they had promised that they will create employment, but since 2014 the situation is appalling,” he said.
While stating that the Government has done even after the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K, he said that people of J&K were told that 50 thousand jobs will be given, “but rather jobs are being snatched. The Govt is suppressing everyone,” he said.
In Tral, the protest was led under the leadership of Manpreet Singh, JKPYC leader. On the occasion, a signature campaign was also organized in which Unemployed Youth participated and protested against the rising unemployment.
