Woman caught red-handed stealing Rs 50,000

POONCH, Sept 21: The police today caught a woman while stealing Rs 50,000 from a bag of passenger by cutting it near Bus Stand Mendhar today.
Official sources said that a passenger’s bag was cut at the bus stand and Rs 50,000 was taken away by the woman thief. Sub Inspector Sunil Sharma, who reached the spot with the police team, asked the woman about the whole incident. The victim passenger narrated that she was sitting in Tata Sumo vehicle to go for home in this Tata Sumo. Another lady was sitting beside her in the vehicle. The woman cut her purse/ bag and took out his cash Rs 50,000 down under the seat. She raised alarm and the woman thief was caught on the spot.
The woman was brought to the police station and she confessed her guilt. A case was registered against the woman under FIR No. 334/2021 IPC at Mendhar Police Station. The accused woman was identified as Sharifa B, resident of Surankot.
SDPO Mendhar, Zaheer Abas Jafri briefed about the whole incident. He said some stolen items were also recovered from the arrested thief.
