Man arrested for killing minor brother-in-law

MENDHAR, Sept 25: The police today claimed to have solved a blind murder case by arresting a man for killing his minor brother-in-law in Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district.
SDPO Mendhar, Zaheer Jafri while talking to media-persons said that on June 8, 2021 the dead body of minor boy- Sharik was recovered from the water tank under mysterious circumstances at Gohlad in Mendhar. After the incident when his prayers were offered with full rituals at that time, the family suspected that their son was murdered, after which the family members appealed to the District Development Commissioner Poonch to order an inquiry into the murder of their son.
Based on the written complaint of the relatives, DDC Poonch formed a team and after 100 days, the post-mortem of Sharik’s body was conducted again. After a week of the post-mortem, the police solved murder case.
SDPO further said that on June 8, Sharik was found dead in a water tank near his house after which his body was removed and legal formalities as per 174 CrPC were initiated by Sub Inspector, Sunil Sharma.
He said that during the course of investigation, victim’s parents also approached the police and shared the apprehension of murder. He said that some vital clues were developed into the matter.
“We have now managed to solve this case and it came to fore that victim Mohammad Sharik, son of Mohammad Sadiq was murdered by his brother-in-law (sister’s husband), Mohammad Qasim, son of Mohammad Sageer, a resident of Gohlad, Mendhar,” he said.
The SDPO added that the accused has been arrested and a case of murder registered against him at Mendhar Police Station. During probe, it was learnt that some land issue was the reason behind the murder of this 14-year-old boy. The accused Mohd Qasim and his real brother have married sisters of the deceased, Sharik.
