JAMMU, Sept 25: J&K Unit of Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray here today staged a protest demonstration against increasing criminal cases against women and demanded Women Police Station in every district of the UT besides Women Cell facility at every police station.
The protest was led by Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni who claimed that the Government is not serious on this issue and this is clear from the fact that ten districts of J&K including Samba, Reasi, Ramban, Kulgam and Shopian do not have women police station and this can be one of the reasons for increasing crime against women.
Sahni referred to the National Crime Records Bureau report and lamented that according to this report there is 11 percent increase in cases of domestic violence and other criminal offences against women in J&K as compared to last year, which is a matter of deep concern.
