Free health camp organized on World Heart Day

JAMMU, Sept 28: On the occasion of World Heart Day, Junior Doctors’ Network (JDN) and Medical Students’ Network (MSN) of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jammu and Kashmir chapter, in collaboration with ASCOMS & Hospital Jammu organized a free health camp at Community Hall, Press Morh, Bahu Fort.
During the camp, which was attended by more than 100 patients, a team of doctors headed by Dr Neeraj Gupta, Consultant Cardiologist, Department of Cardiology, ASCOMS, examined people who had come to take the benefits of free camp. Along with free health check-up, free Blood Pressure monitoring, Blood Sugar testing, ECG services and medicines were offered to the patients.
Junior doctors and medical students offered advises on how to identify symptoms of heart diseases and how to lead a healthy lifestyle to prevent major cardiac events. They also emphasized on need of regular check-ups, preventive tests and compliance to medicines prescribed by doctor. This major initiative was taken by members of IMA- JDN, MSN to inspire masses to implement lifestyle changes, focusing on preventing healthcare.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Neeraj Gupta talked about various risk factors and their prevention and also quoted that “Use heart to beat heart diseases”. Dr Abhay Gupta (State general secretary, IMA-JDN J&K) said JDN and MSN will be organizing medical camps and awareness events in future also.
In her statement, Muskan Nargotra (State convener, IMA-MSN J&K) said that regular heart checkups and healthy eating is a key to a healthy heart.
IMA-JDN, MSN secretaries and College conveners, viz. Dr Saishte Mahajan, Muskan Nargotra, Radhika Rattanpal Amandeep Singh, Daksh Bhandari, IMA volunteers Divyanshu, Supriya, Eshita, Anandhi, Vicky Singh along with Heart technicians Ashmeet Singh, Suresh Singh, Deepak Thakur and Sister Sobia were present in the camp.
Corporator Sham Lal Bason and his team helped the IMA- JDN, MSN in organizing the camp as well as created awareness amongst the masses on the World Heart Day.
