Soldiers and officers of various units of Northern Command were delighted to see and interact, albeit briefly, with an outstanding colleague of theirs, the team captain who won India the world cup in Cricket, namely Lt. Col (Honorary) Mahinder Singh Dhoni during last three days. He is the most popular sportsman with millions of his fans in the length and breadth of the country. His hosts in 15th Corps arranged his visit to forward areas in Nowshehra, Bhimber Gali, Poonch and Rajouri. He went right up to the fencing on the border and with the help of binoculars saw the glimpse of Pakistani post on the other side of the border. He will visit Srinagar and Ladakh also. Dhoni was candid in saying that he had no idea what type of life the soldiers lived on the border defending the nation and he was excited and said that after he retired from cricket he would take to active life by joining the army. This is great tribute to the patriotism and sacrifices of our soldiers. This is a step towards widening the socialization process of our Army. The Northern Command has already a comprehensive programme up its sleeves to promote socialization process because it is in action on the ground and has to deal with the disturbed ground situation. The visit brings honour to Dhoni and pride to our soldiers.
