Shoot-out in Samba Industrial area

SAMBA, June 3: People from Kehli Mandi area of Samba town held protest demonstration against police for its inaction in a shoot-out incident in Industrial area and sought intervention of Deputy Commissioner into the matter.
Reports said one Navin Singh, son of Nischant Singh of Kehli Mandi, Samba is constructing a factory in Phase-II of Samba town. There is a piece of land belonging to one Brij Mohan Singh of Kehli Mandi near the factory. When some people of Brij Mohan were busy in leveling of land with the help of a JBC for further raising construction there, the rival party objected to it, claiming that they were encroaching upon a common passage passing through that land.
Over this issue, both parties had a tiff. The JBC driver was pulled out and beaten up by the members of the rival party. During scuffle, Navin Singh allegedly fired some rounds in the air with his revolver to terrorise the members of the rival party. The work was stopped. Later, an FIR was lodged with the Samba police by Brij Mohan and his men but no action was taken in this regard by police.
Today nearly 150 people from Kehli Mandi area held protest against Samba police, raising slogans against SSP and the SHO.
They alleged that police failed to take any action against the accused. Later, they met DC Samba Mubarak Singh at his official residence and sought his intervention. They alleged that police has not arrested Navin Singh and even his gun has not been seized. Mr Singh assured the people that necessary legal action will be taken against the accused persons in this regard. Later, the people dispersed.
