Beating Retreat to give fillip to tourism: Suri

JAMMU, Oct 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri, while appreciating beginning of beating the retreat ceremony by Border Security Force (BSF) at Suchetgarh border, said that the move is highly appreciable, patriotic in nature and aimed at giving a fillip to tourism besides local economy of the region. He, however, urged the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to develop massive infrastructure upto the border so that the entire stretch can become accessible and has a complete tourist circuit including Gharana Wetlands, famous temples and stadiums.
Raman Suri said that four-laning of road upto Suchetgarh border, building pavilions for viewing Beating the Retreat, development of Gharana Wetlands, tourism centres, shopping arcades, upliftment of Bana Singh Stadium and allied infrastructure will give a new lease of life to the entire R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh areas, where this ceremony has started with much fanfare. These infrastructures, he added, will enable travellers, tourists and locals to spend considerable time there that in turn will boost the economy of the region.
He said that people of Jammu and Kashmir and those living outside the Union Territory besides abroad, on seeing the Beating Retreat ceremony at Suchetgarh on social media, have highly appreciated the move and are looking forward to see Amritsar’s Attari-like ceremony taking place in Jammu. He said that people are jubilant and are looking forward to this ceremony, that is going to change the fate of these border villages in months to come.
