REASI, Oct 6: Student held protest against Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) administration in Katra here today.
A large number of students including girls living in the hostel of SMVDU assembled in the premises of Varsity and held protest. They raised slogans against University administration for harassing them on the name of COVID guidelines.
While speaking, the protesting students said that the Varsity administration is not allowing them to go home for emergency purposes citing COVID restrictions.
“Staff members are allowed to go home daily but students were not allowed even for medical problems or importance family functions despite assurance of getting Negative RT-PCR Reports on return”, the students said, adding that they are being harassed on the name of COVID guidelines.
“University administration is imposing COVID guidelines on students and not on staff members, which is not justified”, the protesting students said.
Later, officials from the University met the protesting students and assured to look into the matter.
On the assurance, the protesting students dispersed.
