15-kg IED, arms, ammunition recovered in Reasi

JAMMU : Security forces today recovered a haul of cache of arms and ammunition including an improvised explosive device weighing 15-kg from a remote area of mountainous Reasi district.
“Based on a tip-off, Rashtriya Rifle troops this morning launched a search operation in Chana village of Mahore Sub Division in Reasi district,” official spokesman here said.
He said during searches, one AK 56 Rifle, magazine for AK 56 Rifle, one IED (approx 15 kgs) and 20 rounds of AK-56 ammunition were recovered from the site.
“The arms and ammunition were recovered in a bag buried three feet under-ground, and were detected with the help of Deep Search Metal Detector,” the spokesman said.
Local sources said the arms and ammunition were buried by the local militants operating in the region, and were meant for use against the Security Forces.
“The explosives were destroyed on site, as they could have been detrimental to the security of the local populace as well,” he added. (AGENCIES)
