Bovine smuggling bid foiled

KATHUA, Oct 7: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling attempt at Bernadi Pull, rescued one bovine, arrested two persons and seized one vehicle involved in the smuggling of animals.
Police said yesterday it was learnt that two persons namely Maradu, son of Shafi of Shapaki tehsil, Hiranagar and Kishore Kumar son of Dev Raj of Naun Chack Talli, tehsil Marheen had loaded one bovine illegally in a vehicle (Ashoka Leyland Auto) without any Registration Number which was enrouted from Ahandy Chack Kathua towards Bernadi in connection with smuggling it to Kashmir valley.
Acting swiftly, Police team led by Inspector, Vikas Sharma Incharge Police Post, Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border Sachit Mahajan- laid a naka at Bernadi Pull. During checking of the vehicle one Bovine was found loaded in it and both the persons failed to produce any legal permission. The police rescued the bovine animal, and both the persons were arrested and vehicle was seized. By taking this cognizance case FIR No. 203/2021 U/S 188/IPC has been registered at Police Station, Rajbagh and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
