JAMMU, June 3: As the Urdu world is celebrating Cenetenary of Sahadat Hassan Manto, Natrang also contributed its bit to salute one of the most celebrated short story writer of the times by staging Urdu play ‘Intzaar’, here today.
The play has been written by Shadat Hassan Manto and is beautifully adapted and directed by Sumeet Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that Natrang is starting its much-awaited Children Theatre Workshop from June 7, 2012 at Amar Singh Club and Natrang Studio, under the direction of Sumeet Sharma, the registration of which is already open.
The new and contemporary elements added in the play sharpened its impact. The situational comedy was further enhanced which made laughter irresistible for the audience.
The play opens in a very hilarious situation in which Mantazar is waiting for his beloved to come to meet him in a much-awaited date. He is waiting for her so anxiously that even half an hour becomes difficult for him to spend. He speaks with his own self and innovates different ways to pass the time calmly, but nothing works. To make the situation even worse, some unwanted guests arrive the spot.
Finally when his girl friend arrives, he falls unconscious because of overtiredness. Thinking that he is unconcerned about the meeting and is sleeping, she leaves and the much-awaited meeting turns to be a disaster, which steered the comedy towards an irony.
Mohit Sharma as ‘Mantzar’ exhibited his talent as a versatile actor and was equally supported by Sumeet Sharma as his innerself. Tajasvi Sharma as girlfriend was also very impressive in her short but important appearance. Pawan Verma as friend, Shivika as Mausi and Vishal Sharma as newspaper vendor also played their part very well.
Lights were operated by Gaurav Jamwal while the sound was executed by Ashwini Bali.
