11 students test +ve in Kathua

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Oct 8: There has been no let up in students testing positive for COVID-19 in different schools in the Jammu region as 11 more were today found infected with the viral infection in a private school in Kathua district.
The Health Department officials said 11 students of St Xavier’s Convent Senior Secondary School Kathua today tested positive for the virus during testing of students in different schools.
The students were locals and they have been quarantined at their homes. Their contact tracing is on for testing.
The school has been closed for five days for sanitization etc.
Prior to this, number of students in Poonch and Rajouri districts have tested positive for COVID-19.
In other districts of Jammu region, only eight fresh cases were reported today including four in Jammu and one each in Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts.
Twenty five persons recovered from the virus.
Jammu region now has 1,24,061 Corona cases. Among them, 1,21,587 have recovered from the virus while there were 300 active positive cases and 2174 casualties.
In the Union Territory of Ladakh, 12 persons today tested positive for COVID-19, all in Leh district.
This has taken Corona count in Ladakh to 20843. Among them, 20578 have recovered while there were 57 active positive cases including 54 in Leh district and three in Kargil.
Corona toll in Ladakh stood at 208—150 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 92 fresh positive cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 47 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 14 from Budgam, 2 from Pulwama, 4 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag, 1 from Bandipora and 13 from Ganderbal.
With 91 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 324,827 which is 98.33 percent of the total cases.
