JAMMU, July 14: Media Art Association J&K has expressed grave concern over the failure of the Kashir Channel in advertising the commissioned programmes since 2007 with the result the future of over two lakh people dependent on the media art in the State is in jeopardy.
In a joint statement the representatives of the Association Pushkar Nath Pandita and K K Raina said that after the notification issued by the Kashir Channel in 2007 no commissioned programmes were advertised by the Channel in last six years.
They said during this period twice the commissioned programmes were allotted to producers in North-Eastern States where the notification for commissioned programmes was issued along with Kashir Channel.
The Association representatives said that from spot boy to producer over two lakh people are dependent on the media art for their livelihood and by delaying the advertisement of commissioned programmes their future is in jeopardy.
The duo in an appeal to Minister of Information and Broadcasting have urged it to sanction funds to Kashir Channel for commissioned programmes so that the people dependent on the media art in the State, the economy of which suffered a setback due to 23 year long turmoil, will also get some work to earn their livelihood.
