JAMMU, Oct 9: Department of Pediatrics, Government Medical College Jammu, in collaboration with IAP J&K UT Branch, organized two- day workshop on Pediatric and Neonatal Ventilation at SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma. In her inaugural address, she encouraged the efforts of Department of Pediatrics for organizing such informative training workshops and academic activities on routine basis.
Professor & Head, Department of Pediatrics, Dr Ghanshyam Saini explained the role and importance of this training workshop in decreasing the morbidity and mortality rate amongst pediatric age group. As SMGS Hospital GMC Jammu has been nominated for establishment of Pediatric Centre of Excellence (COE) for mentoring and monitoring Pediatric ICUs in peripheral hospitals and newly established Govt Medical Colleges of Jammu province, this training workshop is the first step towards this COE programme of GOI, he added.
The workshop was attended by 46 delegates, who included Pediatricians from different parts of Jammu Province like Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda and Jammu District.
The Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital Jammu, Dr Dara Singh and Dy Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital Jammu, Dr Rakesh Kumar Sharma also participated in the programme and contributed for smooth conduct of the workshop.
Dr Anuj Bhatti, MD Pediatrics (DM Neonatology), Associate Professor and Dr Anumodan Gupta, MD Pediatrics (DNB Neonatology) were the faculty for the conduct of this workshop.
Other prominent Pediatricians, who participated, include: Dr Sanjeev Kumar Digra, Dr Ashu Jamwal, Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma, Dr Mohd Razaq, Dr Mahesh Gupta, Sr Consultants from Health Department and other faculty members of Department of Pediatrics, GMC, Jammu.
