SAMBA, Oct 10: Apni Party provincial president, Jammu, Manjit Singh today advised BJP to desist from anti-farmer policies which has made economic condition of the farmers weak in the country.
Addressing a public meeting at Rakh Amb Tali village in Samba, Manjit Singh said that the farmers are the backbone of the economy of the country, but the BJP has failed to address their issues from last one year because of their adamant attitude.
“The farmers are holding peaceful protests and have sat on dharna in Delhi for a year, but their demands to roll back the anti-farm laws have not been accepted nor any assurance from the Government has come,” he said and advised the Government not to work against the interests of the farmers.
He said as the Government especially BJP is ignoring the farmers, the stalemate has continued to linger on due to the unbending attitude which is not good in a democratic country like India.””It appears from the attitude of the Government that they are favouring the big business houses and industrialists instead of poor farmers which is the cause of anger among the farmers,” he said.
He said that the economy of the country grows when the farmers are strong and provide all support to the Government. However, the opposite is happening. “The demands of the farmers should be seriously looked into and they should be addressed accordingly so that the year-long deadlock ends,” he said.
Meanwhile, Party’s SC Coordinator for J&K Bodh Raj Bhagat, district president Samba Raman Thappa and Apni Trade Union district president Sunny Sambyal also spoke on the occasion.
