KATHUA, Oct 10: One person was killed and another injured in a road accident that took place when a Pick-up vehicle rolled down into deep gorge on Bani-Bhaderwah road in Bani area of Kathua district today.
The accident took place when Mahindra Pick-up vehicle bearing registration number JK08B-4928 met with the accident and skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge on the Bani-Bhaderwah Road at Khudwa near Fish Pound Lowang. In the accident the driver suffered grievous injuries and another person traveling in Mahindera Pick-up vehicle was killed on the spot.
Soon after the accident, the local people started rescue operation and shifted the both persons to Bani Hospital. A Police team also rushed to the spot and identified the dead as Mohd Fareed, son of Abdul Haq, resident of Saman Tehsil Basoli in district Kathua while the driver Mohd Azam, son of Fareed Ali, resident of Lowang suffered grievous injuries.
The injured driver has been shifted to CHC Bani while the body of dead person was also retrieved from the spot and has been brought to CHC Bani for legal formalities.
