Kichloo underscores need to restore pristine glory of KVIs

SRINAGAR, July 16: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo has underscored the need to restore the pristine glory of Khadi Village Industries, adding that along with other sectors; Khadi also suffered a serious setback due to two decade long turmoil. Now that the situation has improved considerably, the khadi Institutions should work with commitment in a missionary mode to promote Khadi and Village Industries sector in the State.
Speaking at a function organised in connection with distribution of Rebate Cheques amounting to Rs. 22 lakh among 38 Khadi Institutions of the State, Mr. Kichloo expressed gratitude to the Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for providing incentives to the Khadi Institutions in the State. He also lauded management of the KVIB for getting National award for its best performance last year and hoped that the Board will continue to excel in future also.
The Secretary Khadi Village Industries Board (KVIB), Abdul Hamid Qureshi, Members of various Khadi Institutions and a number of artisans were also present on the occasion.
The Members of the Federations demanded that that Union Government and the Union Ministry of Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME) should provide North- East type package to the Khadi Institutions in J&K State also. They sought hassle free facilities from the Banking Institutions working in the State.
Secretary KVIB, Ravinder Singh informed that KVIB has set up 738 units against the target of 304 units during the last fiscal. The Board has also surpassed the financial target by registering Rs. 12.51 crore against Rs. 7.40 crore thus excelling both in financial and physical spheres.
