Srinagar, Oct 18: The residents of Amberpora Tarzoo in north Kashmir’s Sopore are facing immense hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road connecting Tarzoo with Alibagh.
The locals said that the Roads and Building (R&B) department has been ignoring them and has not been paying any attention to the road. They said that the department has not initiated any repair works despite repeated requests.
“It is troublesome to pass through the road as the road is full of potholes; I don’t think that road was ever macadamized due to which the people commuting on the road are facing immense hardships,” Riyaz Ahmad, a local said.
He said that patients who need to reach the hospital in case of emergencies also face hardships while as during rains, even walking on the road gets difficult.
“The concerned department had started some work, but they have left it in midway due to unknown reasons and due to which the people are suffering,” the residents said.
Officials said that the PDD had to do some work before the road work could be started. They said that the concerned department has been lazy in carrying out the required work so that the R&B could move ahead with the necessary works.
R&B’s AEE in the area Muzaffar Ahmad told Excelsior that they have already started the necessary works on the road while as there was some work to be carried out by the Electric department which is taking a bit of time. “The work has been stopped due to rains, we are currently on it and the necessary works are being carried out,” he said.
