Protection of migrant land

JAMMU, Oct 18: The members of Swami Mirzakak Ji Trust, Hangalgund, Kokernag in a meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president, B L Hangloo has expressed its satisfaction over the steps taken by the District Development Commissioner, Anantnag in safeguarding the land belonging to religious places of minority community in the village.
The meeting reiterated that the minority Pandit community in Hangalgund possesses 30 Kanals of land belonging to temples of Hangla Devi ,Shiv temple, Swami Mirzakak Samadhi, Smadhi of Swami Parkak Ji, , Dharamshalla, two cremation grounds in the village and a burial ground of children which was in its possession for centuries together. However, some unscrupulous elements had grabbed the land belonging to Hangla Devi temple and Parkak Samadhi by establishing a Sumo Stand. The meeting complimented the DDC Anantnag for his quick action in retrieving this land besides issuing orders to the concerned officers to ensure the protection of the land which belonged to the Trust prior to mass migration of Pandits from Valley.
The meeting said that over a decade back some miscreants had also tried to grab the land and it was with the intervention of then Minister, Peerzada Mohammed Syed who visited the area personally along with the team of officers to get the encroachment removed.
The meeting, however said the Revenue Department played a remarkable role right from Commissioner Secretary to Pathwari level as well as local Auquaf Committee in retrieving the land belonging to Hindu religious places in the village.
The meeting among others was attended by general secretary of the Trust, Avtar Krishan Raina, Veer Ji Pandita, Makhan Lal Pandita, Rakesh Hangloo.
The meeting was informed that the Dharmshalla in the village has been renovated fully while the construction work of Hangla Devi temple is near completion which will be followed by renovation of Samadhi of Swami Parkak.
