JAMMU, Oct 18: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has deputed top Intelligence experts of various para-military forces and other agencies including Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Border Security Force (BSF) to assist Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in anti-militancy operations in the wake of surge in civilian killings of non-locals which has created fear psychosis triggering migration of the outsiders in Kashmir.
Sources told the Excelsior that top officials and Intelligence experts of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are camping in Kashmir coordinating search operations and hunting down of the militants responsible for the killings across the Valley.
Earlier also, the counter-terrorism experts of National Security Guards (NSG) had reached the Valley to join police and other security agencies in the search operations against militants who have gone on killing spree with 11 targeted killings this month alone.
Experts from Intelligence agencies including those specialized in counter-terrorist operations from multiple security agencies are camping mostly in Srinagar though some of them have also reportedly toured South Kashmir to assess the situation and help security agencies in tracking down the militants.
“A new kind of threat has emerged with the killings of civilians by fresh recruits and Over Ground Workers (OGWs) using pistols. Though some of the militants involved in such killings have been eliminated by security forces including police, many others are active,” sources said.
As per the sources, the counter-terrorist and Intelligence experts are expected to stay longer in the Kashmir valley with a view to control situation.
CRPF Director General Kuldeep Singh, who is also the chief of NIA, has also been asked to camp in the Kashmir Valley by the Union Home Ministry, sources said, adding he has already reached the valley and is coordinating with security agencies including JKP to hunt down the militants.
Top officials of the Union Home Ministry are in constant touch with officials of security forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police to provide them any kind of assistance required in launching an offensive against the militants.
It may be mentioned here that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Jammu and Kashmir from October 23-25. He is scheduled to visit both divisions of Jammu and Kashmir and will also address a massive BJP rally at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu on October 24.
