Bail denied to cop, another involved in selling heroin

JAMMU, Oct 20: Additional Sessions Judge Kathua Kamlesh Pandit has rejected the bail application of Manzoor Ahmed, police cop working in District Court Kathua and Ram Saroop, who have been booked under NDPSA.
As per the police report, on 09-09-2021, Hiranagar Police apprehended Ram Saroop, son of Faquir Chand of Kootah and recovered 40 grams of heroin from his possession.
On this, case FIR No.118/2021 was registered against the accused person under Sections 8/21/22 of NDPS Act and investigation was taken up. During the further investigation, Ram Saroop disclosed that he has bought contraband from Manzoor Ahmed, who works at District Court Kathua.
“One of the accused persons bought the seized contraband from the other accused person who happens to be the employee of the disciplined belt force and incidentally posted in Malkhana where all the contraband is deposited for trial of the cases”, the court said, adding “police report reveals that one of the accused person used to purchase the contraband from the other one namely Manzoor Ahmed earlier also. It cannot be ruled out that the seized contraband might have been drawn from the Court Malkhana”.
“The drug traffickers like accused person are spreading the addiction of narcotics and psychotropic substances among the youth section of society making them slaves of the same who when become addicts not only spoil their lives but also ruin the lives of their family members”, the court said, adding “the release of the accused persons/applicants at this stage will not meet the ends of justice”.
Accordingly, the court rejected the bail applications.
