SRINAGAR, Oct 21: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Owais Ahmad, President Municipal Committee, Pahalgam for demanding and accepting Rs 80,000 as bribe for release of payments for supply of garbage vehicles.
As per official spokesman, ACB received a complaint alleging therein that President, Municipal Committee, Pahalgam Owais Ahmad is demanding illegal gratification for release of payment.
In the complaint, the complainant alleged that Owais Ahmad is demanding Rs 80,000 as bribe for release of payments due to him for supply of garbage vehicles (Two Hopper Tipper Dumpers).
On receipt of the complaint, a case under FIR Number 31/2021 under Section 7 PC Act 1988 was registered in this Bureau and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation a trap team constituted. The trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Owais Ahmad while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 80,000 from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team.
Further investigation into the case is on.
