JAMMU, Oct 23: Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and Managing Director of the reputed JSW group visited IIT Jammu on Saturday to confer B. Tech, M. Tech and Ph. D degrees upon the successful students.
Jindal also delivered the message of firm self-belief and finding joy in one’s job to all the graduating students.
A handout stated that the celebration began with a cultural show before the convocation, wherein regional performances were delivered by Dogri, Gojri and other artists.
Binna crafts and Basohli paintings were also exhibited and attracted a lot of buyers from the audience.
This year, IIT Jammu conferred 95 B. Tech degrees upon its 2nd graduating batch, 35 M. Tech degrees upon the first graduating batch and one Ph. D degree to Dr. Mohit Pal from the Department of Mathematics.
The convocation ceremony was held in hybrid mode wherein all the 131 graduates joined in both offline and online.
The participating departments were Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
On this occasion medals were awarded to the graduating students for outstanding performances during their course.
Thus, Institute’s Silver Medal was given to Shashank Shekhar, B. Tech in Civil Engineering; Rajat Khanna, B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering; Satyam Mahajan, B. Tech in Electrical Engineering and Ajay Kushwaha, B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
President Gold Medal was given to Gaurav Bansal from Computer Science and Engineering Department; Director’s Gold Medal was given to Anupam Pandey from Mechanical Engineering Department; Institute’s Silver Medal was given to Sneha Shukla, M. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and to Palash Gupta, M. Tech Electrical Engineering while Institute Gold Medal was given to Aijaz Ahmad Bhat from Electrical Engineering.
