Srinagar, July 18: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today rapped the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) for its report on leakage of papers in the last month’s competitive examinations, calling it a “fictitious story”.
A division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Verinder Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar after pursuing the report observed their dissatisfaction with the report.
“We are not satisfied with it (the report). It seems to be a fictitious story made by someone”, the court observed.
The bench further observed that head of the institute is responsible for the lapses. The Secretary of the BOPEE was present in the court when the court opened the sealed envelope that contained the response of BOPEE. Chairman of the BOPEE was given exemption for personal appearance as he was busy in the conduct of examinations.
The BOPEE had last month cancelled the Common Entrance Test (CET) for Medical and Engineering Courses after few Biology and Chemistry papers were leaked.
The court today asked the board why all the papers of the test were cancelled if two papers were leaked.
The leakage case was heard on Wednesday by the court in which Advocate Muksha Kazmi, counsel for BOPEE, filed response in a sealed envelop but the court had directed that the envelopes will be opened in front of BOPEE chairman and Secretary who were directed to make personal appearance.
The court had also appointed senior advocate Bashir Ahmad Bashir as amicus curie to assist the court.
The court had directed Chief Secretary and BOPEE authorities to give reasons for the leakage of the papers.
The paper leakage led to huge public outcry and High Court took suo moto cognizance of the matter.
A student who had appeared in the BOPEE examinations this year has moved an application before the High Court that he would assist the court and court allowed had it.
