Provide funds for colleges

Sir,
Refer editorial  ‘colleges without infrastructure’ DE July 16.
The issue of colleges without infrastructure  is in the knowledge of the concerned authorities since so many years. But for reasons known to them, no action has been taken so far. A sort of policy paralysis has creaped in the system.
These institutions of learning were expected to raise the standard of higher education in the State and provide relief to students hailing from remote areas of the State. But nothing such happened. This is due to the fact that most of the colleges either do not have subjects combination which students would opt for according to their choice. Some colleges do not have facility for Science stream. While others have other hurdles to overcome. These deficiences have prevented students from joining these colleges. Where students have sought admission, they feel disgusted with the working of the  institution.
In this backdrop, it is necessary that arrangements be made to make them  institutions of learning in true sense.
Yours etc….
