AMRITSAR, Oct 29: Director and Head of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement Surgery, Fortis Escorts Hospital Amritsar, Dr Mohit Arora, has launched the latest and highly affordable personalized computer navigation gyroscopic system ‘OrthAlign’ which can be used in knee replacement surgery for highly accurate alignment and rotation of implant.
The first surgery with OrthAlign in North India was performed by Dr Mohit Arora at Fortis Hospital Amritsar. Despite giving highly accurate alignment, the OrthAlign is highly affordable as compared to other navigation systems.
Briefing about the OrthAlign, Dr Arora said, “Robotic system takes one to one and half hour in knee replacement but use of OrthAlign reduces the surgery time to only 30 minutes and this way not only the chances of infection decreases but also there is minimum blood loss with no need of blood transfusion.
“These days knee replacement surgeries are getting very common as no-a-days patients are getting knee problems in younger age group. Hence, there is a need of best quality long lasting joints and perfect alignment of the joint so that one only undergoes knee replacement surgery once in his or her lifetime. Thus, the significance of the OrthAlign increases,” he added.
Dr Arora has specialization in Adult Joint reconstruction surgeries like hip, knee, shoulder arthroplasty (joint replacement) minimal invasive (button hole) trauma (fracture) surgery. He has a vast experience of high flexion knee replacement surgery. He has also patented Smart Technique (stitchless, minimal invasive, accurate, reliable transplant technique).
