JAMMU, Oct 29: All Teachers Association, Jammu Kashmir has proposed some suggestions to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for successful implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) in the Union Territory.
In an open letter to the Lt Governor, President of ATAJK, Mrignayani Slathia has suggested introduction of Bridge Courses at all levels, rationalization of teaching staff in all the stages in schools as per teacher pupil ratio (1:30 up to 10th and 1:50 for 11th and 12th), good infrastructure to improve the performance of the students and improving the school system etc.
” Spacious classrooms, well equipped laboratories, well stocked e-libraries, Theatre, courtyards, Audio-Visual rooms, Sports ground for outdoor games, provision for indoor activities and above all the Examination Halls should be ensured,” she said and also stressed for implementation of a new and comprehensive National Curriculum Framework for Teachers Education (NCFTE 2021).
Moreover Post B Ed certification courses for career growth of teachers who wish to move into more specialized areas of teaching or into leadership and management positions should be introduced as early as possible, she said and added that innovative methods should be adopted by teachers to improve the learning outcomes.
Leader of the teachers Association has also suggested introduction of multi- linguistic courses for primary teachers, one week Holiday twice a year during Harvesting season, Earning while learning/Promotion of vocational Education, online Transfer Policy, detachment of teachers/Masters/Lectures from non teaching posts, creation of New Zones, accommodation for Teaching faculty, equal HRA at par with other UTs, special mechanism to promptly address issues of Teaching fraternity, holding regular DPC, creation of Non Plan Post for Masters transferred on SSA Head teachers Posts, Leave arrangement against the teachers availing CCL & Maternity leave and restoring the status of teachers.
