KATHUA, Oct 29: An Inter -State debit card cloning gang which conned hundreds of gullible people queuing up at ATMs was arrested by Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal here on Thursday.
Acting on reliable information received at Police Post (PP) Chadwal that some unknown persons of Inter-State gang name not known having different type of ATM cards in their possession were using them for withdrawal of cash of other people by befooling them. Presently the gang was operating in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh and its adjoining areas.
On this information case FIR No. 215/2021 U/S 465/467/471 IPC stands registered at PS Rajbagh.
During course of investigation a police team of PP Chadwal led by Inspector, Arun Slathia, Incharge PP Chadwal yesterday succeeded in arresting one person namely Shanker, son of Om Prakash of Balwakheri tehsil and district Muzaffernagar ( U.P) and 15 ATM cards were recovered from his possession who inserted skimmers in the Automated Teller Machine to steal passwords and other card details on the pretext of helping the elderly and disabled to withdraw money while the further investigation is still in progress.
