3 drug peddlers nabbed in Kulgam

Srinagar, Oct 29: Police in Kulgam today arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on specific information regarding drug dealings at (Dhaba) in Nippora, Qazigund, a police party from Police station Qazigund rushed to the spot and during checking, recovered 60 Kg of poppy straw from the possession of Kuldeep Kumar son of Prakash Nath resident of Kud, Ramban.
Police said that he has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody.
Meanwhile, a notorious drug peddler identified as Aasif Amin Thoker (Owner Dhaba) son of Mohd Amin Thoker resident of Waghama Bijebhara after noticing the Police party managed to flee the spot.
Similarly, in another action acting on specific input regarding drug dealings, police at a checkpoint established near flyover crossing Qaimoh intercepted a suspected vehicle (truck) bearing Registration No. PB35Q-2555 with two persons on board.
“They have been identified as Somnath, son of Gyan Chand and Parlad, son of Amar Singh both residents of Mukerian, Hoshiarpur, Punjab,” police said.
On checking, police recovered 92Kgs of poppy straw filled in Apple boxes from their possession.
They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. “Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stand registered in respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
