Govt inhuman towards displaced Pandits: AIKS

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 19: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) while terming the Government’s approach towards the displaced Pandits as insensitive has said that it is a pity that the torturous exile of the community is continuing unabated after 23 long years.
The president of AIKS, Moti Kaul who visited the Jammu region and various camps here has expressed his dismay over the step-motherly treatment given to displaced Pandits by the Government who have been forced to flee from the Valley due to follies of the Government itself and were lading an exiled life in Jammu and other parts of the country since 1989-90.
He said in the last Apex Body meeting the Chief Minister had assured that the cash relief will be enhanced to the tune of Rs 10,000 per-month per family and it is unfortunate that this long pending demand was again put into the cold storage and a meager increase in cash relief was announced.
Expressing grave concern over the growing number of unemployed in the community, Mr Kaul said that much talked about PM’s employment package has also been put into cold storage and the displaced youth continue to struggle for their survival as their share in the State Government services has been reduced to zero by the present Government’s callousness.
He while highlighting the problems of the Jagti camp inmates said that the so-called township has proved a concentrated camp for the displaced people who have not only been deprived of their livelihood after being shifted to the Jagti camp but san all basic facilities of life there.
The people have been facing erratic power supply as well as water scarcity in these hot and humid days. The inhuman attitude of the Government towards these hapless people has put a question mark on the secular credentials of the State Government, he added.
