Court rejects bail plea of Director Dutta Financiers

JAMMU, July 19: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Subash C Gupta today rejected the bail application of one Gurbachan Singh Dutta, son of Ravail Singh Dutta, who was allegedly involved in cheating the people of Rs 20 to 25 crore.
While rejecting the bail application of the accused, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge observed, “the release of the accused on bail will certainly give a wrong message to the public at large in the functioning of the judicial system”.
Earlier, Crime Branch Jammu produced challan against proprietors and Directors of Dutta Financiers, Nanak Nagar Jammu, who are accused of duping innocent persons.
The challan was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu against Gurbachan Singh Dutta, his wife Bhajan Kour, their son Harpal Singh Dutta and Gurdeep Singh son of Harnam Singh.
Brief facts of the case are that a written complaint was lodged by one Sardar Joginder Singh with Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu alleging that the Dutta Financiers was refusing to pay back their deposited money on flimsy grounds. Despite having a fleet of Petrol Tankers and trucks, the Finance company kept delaying the payment of investors and then also closed its Jammu office.
The total amount of depositors is approximately Rs 20 to 25 crore. Later, investigation of the case was transferred to Crime Branch Jammu, which recorded the statements of witnesses, seized Ledger books and other related records of Dutta Financiers. Moreover bank details including record pertaining to improvable property of the said company were also collected from Revenue Department and seized.
Perusal of the seized record and statement of witnesses revealed that the accused persons were running different fictitious companies who after accumulating more than Rs 20 crore from investors closed their business in Jammu and went underground.
The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on August 6, 2013.
