JAMMU, Nov 1: US-based Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA), president, Dr Archana Kakroo, who paid a one-day visit to Jagti Township reiterated her support for community work in Jagti and promised that she will take up all the issues and problems with the Board members of her organization to address the genuine demands put forth by Global Solace advisors.
Earlier she was given a rousing welcome by the public and volunteers of Global Solace Society. During COVID-19 particularly the second wave in April-May this year KOA proactively supported several organizations and groups including Global Solace in Jammu and other parts of the country in alleviating human suffering and provision of Oxygen concentrators, oxymeters, sanitizer, mask, and face shield. KOA has also been helping to displaced KPs since 31 years in the field of education and help to ailing people etc.
She also went to Jagti Hospital where Kiran Watal, patron Global Solace and convener, Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj, explained to her how the 15-bed ward was put together with community efforts and donation of Bollywood actor, Anupam Kher.
B L Bhat, patron apprised her about various community initiatives.
Pintoo Ji, president Global Solace highlighted the facilitating role of KOA during COVID. A few proposals for upliftment of women and others were made to her on the occasion.
Dr Kakroo who was accompanied by Anil Gunjoo her secretary and Alka Lahori acclaimed the role of organizers and expressed her satisfaction over the various initiatives taken up by Global Solace and Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj.
VCs of Jammu Central University, Prof Ashok Aima and Jammu University, Manoj Dhar who were present on the occasion highlighted the role of education in helping community to stand on its feet in adversity and both VCs promised for setting up of an Education Tutorial Centre at Jagti. The vote of thanks was presented by B L Dhar .
Prominent people and volunteers of Global Solace who participated in the programme included Dr Anila Koul, Medical Superintendent, Jagti Hospital, Dr Anurodh Koul , Aryan Ramesh, Anuja Khushu ,Pyri Lal Pandita, Kuldeep Razdan,Moti Lal Padroo, Bitu Ji, Avtar Krishen, Roshan Lal Bhat, Surinder Kumar Bhat, Ramesh Padroo ,Ravi Ji Raina, Kundan Lal, Ajay Bhat etc.
