JAMMU, Nov 2: Dhanvantri Jayanti– 6th National Ayurveda Day were celebrated today with great fervor by various Ayurvedic institutions and organizations across Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, Dhanvantri Jayanti is celebrated as National Ayurveda Day to promote and propagate health practices and principles enshrined in Ayurveda and celebrate the spirit of Ayurveda.
Directorate of AYUSH J&K celebrated the Day at Government Ayurvedic Hospital, Indira Chowk, Jammu. At the outset, a “Dhanvantri Yajna” was organized at Dhanvantri Kunj in which chief guest of the function Director AYUSH J&K, Dr Mohan Singh offered Purnahuti to Lord Dhanvantri. In his address, Dr Singh emphasized the need for collaboration, convergence and research on the Nutritional principles and practices of optimal nutritional enshrined in Ayurveda. The felicitation program for the winners of various competitions like slogan, essay, Jingle, poster, quiz and yoga asanas/ pranayam was also conducted in which winners were given awards of appreciation by the Director AYUSH J&K and Director School Education Jammu, Dr Ravi Shanker.
The Day was also celebrated by Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research. The theme for Ayurveda Day this was “Ayurveda for Poshan”. The celebration started on 29th October with Ayurveda Poshan awareness lectures and medical camps in the surrounding villages. In the campus, various competitions like Poster, Debate, Essay, Fireless cooking, Rangoli were organized. Today, the installation of Lord Dhanwantari and unveiling of bust of founder Chairman late Dr Roop Lal Sharma was done by chief guest Bharat Bhushan (Chairman, DDC Jammu) and guest of honour Sunil Singh (SDPO, Domana). The programme was organized by Chairperson Shri Sain Charitable Trust Suman Sharma and other members of Management– Ritesh Sharma, Ravish Sharma, Japna Sharma, Jasudha Sharma and Dr Sakshi Sharma.
All J&K Ayurvedic Congress celebrated the Day under the presidentship of Dr BD Gupta, its State president. The function was attended by Ayurvedic professionals and citizens. Traditional Hawan was organized with full devotion and rich tributes were paid to Lord Dhanvantari for his extraordinary contribution for the welfare of mankind. Besides others, Dr HN Patwari, Dr TR Gupta, Dr Kartar Singh, Dr BR Sharma, Dr Dilip Singh Sambyal, Dr AK Chowdhury, Dr Kamlesh Sachdeva, Dr Swarn Padha and Dr Dinmani Sharma participated in the function.
In Government Ayurvedic Medical College Akhnoor, the Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal GAMC Akhnoor enlightened the auspicious lamp and performed Havan to offer prayers to Lord Dhanwantri. She also spoke about the importance of Dhawantri Diwas and Ayurveda in our day to day life.
The Dhanvantri Day as Ayurveda day was celebrated by Department of AYUSH at Kathua. DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav and AYUSH District Medical Officer Dr Ajay Tickoo lit the traditional lamp before portrait of God Dhanvantri at auditorium of Government College for Women Kathua. A numbers of the speakers including college students and AYUSH doctors threw light on the importance of Ayurveda. AYUSH DMO Dr Ajay Tickoo gave details on working of AYUSH and its hospitals and dispensaries serving the patients in backward and far flung areas.
India Ayurveda Organization celebrated Dhanvantari Jayanti and 6th National Ayurveda Day at its Kathua Center. The celebration started with the worshipping of Lord Dhanwantari. Later, doctors offered Ayurvedic consultation to people visiting the centre and also apprised them of benefits of Ayurveda treatments and medicines to promote health and resist diseases. Dr Hitender Mahajan, founder and chief physician, explained the importance of Ayurveda in our lives. He said the great thing about Ayurveda is that its treatments always yield side benefits and not side-effects.
Indigenous Medicines Organization (IMO) celebrated Dhanwantari Jayanti, the creator of Ayurvedic System of Medicine with full enthusiasm. The function was organized under the chairmanship of Dr KK Gandotra (former Deputy Director AYUSH). A large number of professionals participated in the function, wherein Havan was performed while paying floral tributes to Lord Dhawantari.
Dhanwantari Jayanti was celebrated in the premises of Rahul Pharma, Gangyal, Jammu. A large number of people from Industry and Ayurveda professionals participated in the celebration. On the occasion, Pooja of Lord Dhanwantari was performed. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Virender Mahajan, CEO of the Company, highlighted benefits of Ayurveda medicines and treatment.
