JAMMU, Nov 2: Members of J&K Cooperative Union held a meeting here today to discuss the celebrations of Cooperative Week which will be there from November 14 to 20.
The meeting was chaired by Rajesh Sharma, Union Chairman wherein members discussed the celebration from Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies level to apex level in J&K and Ladakh.
Various issues regarding promotion and strengthening of cooperative movement in the changing scenario were discussed.
A handout stated that J&K Cooperative Union was registered in 1939 during the rule of Maharaja and till date it has been organizing the Cooperative Week every year.
Sharma stressed upon the need to promote primary Agriculture Societies.
“Our Cooperative Banks are also doing excellent work in their areas by giving loan to the farming sector,” he maintained adding that Cooperative is the only sector which provides 7 per cent employment in the country besides contributing to the GDP of India.
Rajesh Bittu, G.D Bakshi and others were also present in the meeting.
