Proper timetable, fixing targets among mantra for success, says NEET topper Tanmay

JAMMU, Nov 3: Proper timetable, fixing of daily targets and giving due place to sports activities is the mantra for success, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) topper from J&K who secured cent percent marks in the competitive exams said.
Though there were two more such students who scored 720 out of 720 but Tanmay Gupta is the only from J&K to achieve this feat.

In an exclusive talk with Excelsior, the NEET topper said, though he never thought to achieve such top score but still he always tried to give his best in preparations and in exams and was ready to accept the results whatever those might be.
“After matriculation itself I have made mind to do qualify NEET to join medical profession and I even started preparing for that right from when I was in class 11,” he informed adding that he wanted to be a doctor and the dream was there with him right from the very beginning of his education and family background of medicos might be one of the reasons but not the only reason for that.
Tanmay has also represented J&K twice in swimming at national level.
On balancing studies with sports, he said: “There is a time till which one’s efficiency works well and after that it decreases gradually. So one should make proper timetable fixing daily target and go for studies till the efficiency lasts and after that one may play some games to refresh the mind.”
He said though all the topics including physics, chemistry and biology are important for NEET but he concentrated more on his weak topics like inorganic chemistry, which he improved subsequently with hard work.
Tanmay also said that those who did not succeeded should not lose heart but should prepare again and make strategy by concentrating more on NCERT books as almost the whole of papers are set from these books.
Avoiding comment on level of coaching available in Jammu he said though he got coaching in Delhi and not from Jammu, so it would not be proper for him to say anything in this regard but felt that level of coaching at Delhi might be higher than that of Jammu.
He said that he will soon start MBBS studies from AIIMS New Delhi and during that period he will think of field to specialise in.
Elated over his son’s achievement, Tanmay’s father, Dr Akshay Gupta, an Ortho-dentist termed feat of his son as extraordinary and said that greetings from the Lieutenant Governor made him more proud as it was like greetings from the entire of J&K.
He said that his son is going to join the top medical college of the country which is world’s 20th in ranking and further added that Tanmay is free to decide about specialisation be wants to do.
“Tanmay has qualities of being down to earth, empathy and human touch which are essential in a doctor. So I think if he becomes a physician he may help more and more people,” he maintained.
He said that as per his experience with Tanmay, he feels that if one prepares a good timetable and also have some hobbies, then success is not too tough in such exams.
“Consistency, no weekend, avoiding OTT and social media are another tips as such are things are only distractions,” he claimed.
The topper’s mother, Dr. Shivali Gupta, a Dentist too has proud feelings about her son and she said that Tanmay has just began to explore things and he will himself decide which field to choose as per scope and his interest.
“As parents we have given him proper time so that he may not feel alone especially in times of exams,” she said adding that she always motivated him to do Karma and leave the results to God.
