MENDHAR, July 20: Severely beaten up by her husband serving in belt force, a young woman committed suicide in Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
The deceased has been identified as Shazia Kouser, wife of Shikhwat Hussain Shah, resident of Chhajla Keni in Mankote area of tehsil Mendhar in district Poonch. The police said Shah is serving as Constable in ITBP and was deployed in Afghanistan on UN Mission. He had returned home recently. He had some doubt on the conduct of his wife and upon this, he had a tiff with the wife on the same issue last evening. He severely beat up his wife. Today, the wife consumed some poison and became serious. She was removed to Mendhar hospital where she was declared as dead.
The body was sent for post-mortem and later handed over to the parents and brothers of the girl. On the complaint of the parents, the police arrested both husband and father- in- law and registered a case against them. The body of the deceased was taken to the Surankote at parental home of the woman and buried there. The police also recorded the statement of the minor children of the deceased, a girl and boy. The brothers and relatives of the woman were looking for the Shikhwat Hussain but he was taken into preventive custody immediately by police. SDPO Amit Bhasin also reached hospital after knowing about the matter and assured the parents of the girl to do justice into the case.
