20 students among 27 test +ve for COVID-19 in Ladakh

165 fresh cases in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Nov 7: In fresh spurt in COVID positive cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh, 27 persons including 20 students of a school today tested positive for pathogen while Jammu and Kashmir also reported 165 new cases, the majority of 156 in Kashmir division while Jammu recorded only nine positives.
Twenty students of The Tibetan SOS Children’s Village School at Choglamsar in Leh district today tested positive for COVID-19. They were among a total of 27 fresh positive cases registered in Ladakh, all in Leh district.
Kargil district didn’t report any fresh positive cases.
Students who tested positive for the virus have been isolated. Their contact tracing is on and all students and staff members will also be subjected to testing.
Prior to this, nearly 50 students and staff members of another school in Leh had tested COVID positive prompting the administration to shut educational institutions for a fortnight.
With 27 positive cases, the number of active positive cases in the UT of Ladakh has gone up to 114—110 in Leh and four in Kargil district.
COVID death toll in Ladakh stood at 209 including 151 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Among nine positive cases reported in Jammu region today, four were registered in Jammu district, two Doda and one each in Kathua, Poonch and Reasi districts. Rest five districts in the region didn’t report any fresh cases today.
Five persons recovered from the virus today.
Corona count in Jammu region has reached 1,24,429.
Of them, 1,22,125 have recovered from the virus while there have been 2177 casualties.
The region now has 127 active positive cases.
Meanwhile, there has been sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in Kashmir with 156 testing positive today.
Srinagar reported 87 cases, Baramulla 26, Budgam 9, Pulwama 3, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 1, Bandipora 13, Ganderbal 13 and Kulgam 1.
Moreover, 103 Covid-19 patients recovered during the time including 98 from Kashmir.
So far 327483 patients have recovered, leaving active case tally at 1153 including 1026 in Kashmir.
