Arnia firing case: AK-47 rifle recovered from hideout, cop’s wife arrested

JAMMU, Nov 8: In a breakthrough, police recovered the AK-47 rifle from a hideout, which was used in Arnia firing case and arrested wife of one of the absconding cops.
As per police sources, one Ak-47 rifle was found in a hideout in bordering Arnia belt on the disclosure of the wife of one of the absconding cops.
“The weapon has been seized as it was found used in Arnia firing case. A lady namely Janu Bano, wife of suspended SgCt Sadeeq, a resident of Salehar Tehsil RS Pura was also arrested as she had kept the weapon of offence in a hideout”, sources said, adding that she was also providing logistic support to the absconding cops.
Notably, on November 5 this year, two persons were shot dead and two were critically wounded in village Salehar of Arnia when two cops identified as Sgct Bhopinder Singh, a resident of Chak Mohammad Yaar, Tehsil RS Pura opened fire on four assailants in self defence. Later, one more injured succumbed to his injuries while being shifting to hospital in Ludhiana. One of the injured is still undergoing treatment.
Sources said that during the shootout Ak-47 rifle was used and the fired shells were also found on the spot.
“Cash and land dispute has been assumed as the reason behind the incident. However, police is continuing its investigation to ascertain the exact facts. Meanwhile, hunt also continued to nab the absconding cops”, police sources said.
In this regard, a case under FIR Number 2021 under relevant Sections also stands registered at Police Station Arnia.
