LEH, Nov 8: The Administration today constituted a UT Level Advisory Committee to oversee the implementation of Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules 2016, issued by the Ministry of Environment, forest and Climate Change, Government of India, in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
Headed by Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, the committee shall meet at least once in six months and review all matters related to effective implementation and enforcement of the provisions of these rules in Union Territory of Ladakh.
Administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department; Administrative Secretary, Forest Ecology & Environment Department; Member Secretary, Pollution Control Board, Ladakh; Administrative Secretary, A&SH Department; DC Leh; DC Kargil, Director, Urban Local bodies, Ladakh; Director Health Service, Ladakh; representative of India Medical Association and one NGO (to be nominated by Health Department) are members of the committee.
