Man looting people at gunpoint nabbed in Pulwama

Srinagar, Nov 8: Police have arrested a man in Pulwama who was posing as a gunman and used to extort money from people living in the nearby areas.
In this regard, Police Station Rajpora in Pulwama received a complaint from some inhabitants of Rajpora and other adjacent areas that some unknown gunman has been roaming in the area, extorting money from the people.
“Accordingly, Police through its social outreach segment asked people to stay alert and help the police to nab the culprit and subsequently yesterday late evening the culprit was nailed down at Hanjan Bala by Police and Public,” Police officials said.
As per details, a person entered into the house of one Ghulam Nabi Waggay S/O Mohd Abdullah R/O Hanjan Bala and asked the family members to switch off the lights and keep quiet.
“Daughter-in-law of the house owner began to obstruct the culprit, reacting to which culprit who was holding a small gun and wearing a hiding cloth on his head started beating her ruthlessly,” officials said.
On this, police said, the family alerted other people in the neighbourhood and called for help.
“The culprit got frightened and tried to flee from the scene but people reacted instantly and called up Police for help; police party arrived and arrested the culprit and ascertained his whereabouts,” police said.
The accused has been identified as Amir Majid Mir S/O Ab Majid Mir R/O Rajpora.
In this regard, a case FIR NO 204/ 2021, U/S 457, 383, 506, 342 and 323 IPC has been registered and further investigation has been taken up to dig the relevant facts.
