POONCH, Nov 8: Passenger shed constructed by the Rural Development Department (RDD) at Bus Stand, Mendhar a few years back for the convenience of people travelling in public transport is lying in a shambles.
Sources said that not even a single repair work has been done since the shed was set up at Bus Stand. Local residents of Mendhar accused the Rural Development Department of neglecting the urgent repair work. The shed was built at the Bus Stand for daily commuters travelling in public transport and take shelter during rain and hot summer days. But today, its condition has turned from bad to worse. Even some people have occupied some space in the passenger shed while the department is fully aware of this, but till date no action has been taken against the grabbers.
Sarpanch, Dhargloon Majid Khatana said that common people even women passengers have to suffer the most when they have to wait for the vehicles there at Bus Stand. He said local Administration Mendhar must take serious note of it.
The local people have appealed to the District Development Commissioner Poonch, to personally intervene and direct SDM/ Tehsildar Mendhar to remove encroachment from Passenger shed and improve facilities there for the passengers. The RDD officials must initiate urgent repair work and throw out the people who have grabbed shed.
