KATRA, Nov 10: As the agitating non-teaching employees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University continued their protest for the second consecutive day, the university administration today warned disciplinary action and `No Work No Wages’ for the period of unauthorized absence of the staff.
“It is hereby informed to all Non-teaching staff that if any employee is still found indulging in such type of activities, which are prejudicial to the interest of the university, disciplinary action including invoking the principle of `No Work No wages’ for the period of unauthorized absence from their place of posting, shall be initiated against him/her, under rules,” reads the circular, issued today by SMVDU Registrar Nagendra Jamwal.
Pertinent to mention that the Non-Teaching employees of SMVDU are protesting against abrupt termination of a female colleague, who was serving in the university for the last 10 years.
For the second consecutive day on Wednesday, the protesting employees staged a sit-in on the campus and raised slogans against the Vice-Chancellor as well as Registrar of the university. They were demanding withdrawal of the termination order.
The protesting employees alleged that abrupt termination of job was a sheer violation of the Section 4 (iv) (d) of Chapter 38 of the University Statutes. They accused the university administration of resorting to dictatorial attitude and harassing the non-teaching employees.
The protesting employees also appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and ensure justice with them.
