Senior UT level Basketball C’ship concludes

*STC Warriors wins in men & women titles

JAMMU, Nov 12: Senior UT level Basketball UT level Championship, organised by J&K Basketball Association (JKBA), concluded at MA Stadium, here today.
STC Warriors emerged winners of both men and women sections and clinched both the titles wherein 12 teams of both men and women participated.
In the women section, the finals match was played between STC Warriors and STC Terriers wherein STC Warriors emerged winners by 43-30 points, whereas third and the fourth place were secured by District Reasi by defeating Jammu by 27-12 points.
In the men’s section the final match was played between STC Warriors and STC Terriers. STC Warrior again emerged winners by defeating their opponents by 68-61 points, whereas 3rd place was clinched by Jammu by defeating Srinagar by 39-27 points.
The referees for the finals matches were Harpreet Singh and Solanki.
A two minute silence was observed before the start of the championship to pray for the departed soul of father of the Basketball coach, Aman Sharma.
Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and she encouraged the players to take up sports seriously and should stay away from drugs. She also promised that the Council would provide all possible help to hold National Basketball Championship in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ranjit Kalra, vice president JKBA, Dr Vikram Handa secretary, Ashok Singh Jamwal, Amarjeet, senior Basketball coach, Harjinder Singh chief Basketball coach STC Jammu, Sushma Jamwal, senior Basketball coach, Shaktish Chopra, In-charge MA Stadium, Satish Gupta and Satish Chopra were also present during the event.
