JAMMU, Nov 14: A 350 meter stretch of road used by many villages for years has now become a part of the IIM here at Nagrota leaving the people with no other alternate than to travel three km extra to reach their destinations.
Residents of village Karli, Saya etc informed that solution to the issue of Tanda-Simblelehar road link is their long pending demand to which the concerned authorities are paying no heed.
Dhian Singh, one of the affected persons claimed that the alternate road which the people are now forced to use is prone to accidents as it is National Highway itself where already nine people have lost their lives in accidents.
The locals said that the existing road was constructed on the demand of the local population under PMGSY scheme in the year 2008 but the Government took unilateral decision for closing it overlooking all the claims and rights of the local population living in the locality since centuries thereby compelling the locals to use an alternative road via NH-44.
The affected people urged upon the Lieutenant Governor to resolve the issue and ensure safety to the life of locals in the area.
