JAMMU, Nov 14: The prevailing law and order situation including selective killings by terrorists, achievements of Government especially attaining 100 crore COVID vaccination, new industrial policy for Union Territory and developmental issues will figure in J&K Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Working Committee meeting to be held on November 16 at Raya Morh in Samba district.
The Working Committee meeting will be preceded by one day office bearers meeting tomorrow which will be held at BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar here.
According to party sources, besides Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, BJP national general secretary and incharge J&K and Ladakh UTs, Tarun Chug, party co incharge, Ashish Sood will be present in both office bearers meeting tomorrow and Working Committee meeting on Tuesday which will be chaired by BJP UT president, Ravinder Raina.
This time 80-member UT Working Committee of the party will have new faces who recently were inducted in it. They included senior leaders Devender Singh Rana, Surjit Singh Salathia and Y V Sharma, former president of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Jammu. Rana, the former provincial president of NC and Salathia, former Minister in NC Governments had joined the BJP last month along with their supporters while Y V Sharma joined the party this month. They all were inducted in party Working Committee later.
Sources said a political resolution which mostly will reflect the national resolution passed by the party in the recently held National Working Committee meeting at Delhi will also be passed during the meeting.
The prevailing political situation and law and order situation will also be discussed during the meeting and the resolution will welcome the new industrial policy announced by the Government recently which will open employment opportunities for the unemployed youth in J&K.
Though the party resolution will strongly denounce the selective killings by terrorists in Kashmir, it will firmly support the Modi Government’s resolve in weeding out terrorism with iron hands. It will pay compliments to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, who recently visited J&K to boost the morale of party, people and administration. It will also compliment the Home Minister for handing over the employment orders to youth of the UT under the new job package during his recent visit to Jammu.
Sources said the remarkable development which took place in the UT after the annulling of Article 370 and 35 A in August 5, 2019 will also figure in the political resolution and stress will be given on intensifying pace of work on much talked about Tawi River Front and taking up in hand the work of diversion of Chenab water towards Jammu to overcome drinking water problem in the city and its suburbs -a project which was initiated long back.
Issue of Kashmiri migrants and security of employees will also figure in the meeting, sources said, adding party is committed to return of the migrants to Valley and hence no compromise will be made on their security.
However, the political resolution will be silent on holding of Assembly elections in the UT as no mention of the same was made in the resolution adopted in the National Working Committee meet in New Delhi recently, sources said.
Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh who will be present in both office bearers and WC meetings tomorrow and day after tomorrow will address the political session highlighting the achievements of Modi Government including 100 percent vaccination target, sources said.
BJP co incharge J&K, Ashish Sood told Excelsior that holding of Assembly elections in the UT has been a commitment of the party. Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has made an announcement to this effect on the floor of the Lok Sabha, he added.
He said BJP is committed to strengthening of democracy in the UT and holding of free and fair elections which is the base of the vibrant democracy. It was BJP which held three tier elections for the first time in J&K which shows the party’s commitment to restoration of democracy in the UT.
He, however, targeted the National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) whom he termed the so called main stream parties for derailing the same. “These so called mainstream parties have lost ground in Kashmir so they support anti nationals,’’ he added.
Sood said PDP president, Mehbooba Mufti, NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president, NC, Omar Abdullah advocate for holding talks with Pakistan and this way they are trying to derail the political process in the UT at the behest of Pakistan.
Maintaining that BJP Government headed by Narendra Modi is committed to weed out terrorism and restore normalcy in the UT, Sood said eight terrorists were eliminated who were behind killing of 11 people in Kashmir recently. This shows the firm resolve of the Government to weed out terrorism, he added.
He said all these issues will be threadbare discussed in the Working Committee which will also decide the future course of action of the party in the UT.
Sood said as per BJP Constitution, State Executive meet should follow the National Executive meet and now party is trying to hold the meetings physically which was not possible earlier due to spread of COVID pandemic. He said the party’s political resolution will definitely discuss the prevailing political situation in the UT and future programme of the party.
The party office bearers will be assigned the role as the party is going to strengthen the organization at booth level all over country by December 25. “Our workers will go door to door as the Government achieved over crore vaccination in the country and ask the people whether they have taken the second dose of the vaccination or not’’, he added.
He said party will also stress that the right to vote to the displaced people be restored under J&K People’s Representative Act.
BJP general secretary, J&K, Divender Manyal said the targeted killings by the terrorists will be discussed which were the part of conspiracy to create disturbances in the UT and the same will not be tolerated by the BJP at any cost.
He said the elections will not be held before the Delimitation process is over and whenever they will be announced by the Election Commission BJP is ready for the same.
